8:36a then may You hear from heaven

Then from heaven listen ⌊to your servants, the people of Israel,⌋

⌊If they do this,⌋ then from ⌊your home in⌋ heaven, please answer ⌊the prayers of⌋ ⌊your servants⌋.

8:36b and forgive the sin of Your servants, Your people Israel,

and forgive their sins.

Please forgive them for all they have done wrong. They are your people Israel.

8:36b so that You may teach them the good way in which they should walk.

Please teach them how to live in the right way.

Please show them the good life that ⌊you want⌋ them to live.

8:36c May You send rain on the land that You gave Your people as an inheritance.

Give rain again to the land ⌊of Israel⌋. You gave this land to your people to possess/own.

Please cause rain to fall on ⌊our (excl.) ⌋ land. It is the land you gave to ⌊us,⌋ your people, to live in for generations to come.
