SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Kings 7:9

7:9a All these buildings were constructed with costly stones,

They made all these buildings from/using the best stones.
-or-
They constructed everything from high-quality stone blocks.

7:9b cut to size and trimmed with saws inside and out

These stones had been ⌊carefully⌋ cut to size and made smooth on both sides.
-or-
They cut the stone blocks to the right sizes and trimmed their inner and outer sides.

7:9c from the foundation to the eaves,

These blocks were used⌋ from top to bottom ⌊of the buildings⌋,
-or-

These stone blocks made up the buildings⌋ from floor to ceiling,

7:9d and from the outside to the great courtyard

The meaning of the phrase “from the outside to the great courtyard” is not certain. Translators may wish to follow their majority-language version.

and from the outside/exterior ⌊halls⌋ to the great/large courtyard.

and all the way to the great court.

7:9a-d (reordered)

Solomon had all these buildings constructed out of fine/quality stone. The stone blocks were cut carefully and smoothed/trimmed along their ⌊exposed⌋ edges/faces. From the outer ⌊porches⌋ to the ⌊wall around⌋ the large/central court, they were all made from these stones from top to bottom.
