SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Kings 22:36

22:36a As the sun was setting, the cry rang out in the army:

A loud cry/shout passed through the battlefield just as the sun went down.
-or-
As the sun was going down, a shout echoed through the camp/ranks. It said,
-or-
The sun set and the Israelite soldiers heard a loud command/shout.

22:36b “Every man to his own city, and every man to his own land!”

“Everyone to his city! Everyone to his land/place!”
-or-
“Everyone go to your city! Everyone go back to your country!”
-or-
They were all to go ⌊home,⌋ back to their villages and land/country.
