SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Kings 22:35

22:35a The battle raged throughout that day,

The battle was heavy/intense all that day.
-or-
The battle continued very strongly all day.
-or-
The whole day the Aramean and Israelite armies/soldiers fought.

22:35b and the king was propped up in his chariot facing the Arameans.

The king was propped/supported so that he was standing in the chariot. He was facing the Aramean forces/army.
-or-
The king stood facing the Arameans in the war cart/wagon. He had to be held up with supports ⌊so that he would not fall⌋.
-or-
They propped/supported the king in his chariot so that he was looking toward the Arameans.

22:35c And the blood from his wound ran out onto the floor of the chariot, and that evening he died.

He died in the evening. The blood from his wound flowed into the bottom of the chariot.
-or-
The blood spread from his wound into the bottom of the war cart/wagon. The day came to an end and he died.
-or-
Blood from his wound went/ran down into the bottom of the chariot. By the end of the day he was dead.
