20:8a And the elders and the people all said,

Then all the elders/leaders and all the people said/replied,
-or-
All the ⌊local/community⌋ leaders and all the ⌊other⌋ people told him/Ahab,
-or-
All the elders/leaders and ⌊the rest of⌋ the people answered that

20:8b “Do not listen to him or consent to his terms.”

“Do (sing) not listen. Do not give in to him.”
-or-
“Do not obey. You (sing) must not surrender.”
-or-
he/Ahab should ignore Ben-Hadad. He/Ahab should not agree to what Ben-Hadad was demanding.
