Section 20:35-42

A prophet condemned King Ahab

20:35a Meanwhile, by the word of the LORD, one of the sons of the prophets said to his companion,

A certain man, a member of a group of prophets, received a word/message from Yahweh. He obeyed/followed it and said to one of his companions,
-or-
A member of the prophetic company obeyed Yahweh by giving a message to one of his fellow/brother prophets. He told/urged his fellow/brother prophet
-or-
Yahweh spoke to one of the band/community of prophets. He told him to command/instruct another of the prophets

20:35b “Strike me, please!” But the man refused to strike him.

The Hebrew text does not include any explicit mention of a weapon.

“Attack (sing)and injure/wound⌋ me, please!” But his companion refused ⌊to attack and wound him⌋.
-or-
to strike/hit him. But his companion would not do it.
-or-
to give/hit him a heavy/severe blow. But the other prophet/man said, “I will not.”
