Allow/Permit (sing) us (excl.) to put/wrap sackcloth around our (excl.) waists and place/put rope on/around our (excl.) heads. Then let us (excl.) go to the king of Israel. Maybe he will allow you (sing) to live.”

If you(incl.) agree, we (excl.) can dress in clothes that show our sorrow/humility and put ropes on/around our (excl.) heads/necks. Then we (excl.) will go/surrender to the king of Israel. Hopefully he will not kill you. (sing) ”
20:32a So with sackcloth around their waists and ropes around their heads,
So the officials wrapped/tied sackcloth around their waists and ropes on/around their heads/necks.

So then Ben-Hadad’s men/advisers tied rope around their necks and rough cloth around their waists/bodies.
-or-
⌊Ben Hadad agreed.⌋ So his officials dressed in a way that showed their sorrow/humility and placed ropes around their necks.
20:32b they went to the king of Israel and said, “Your servant Ben-hadad says,
Then they went to the king of Israel. They said to him, “Your (sing) servant, Ben-Hadad, says ⌊to you,⌋

They met with Ahab, the king of Israel. They said to him, “Ben-Hadad is your (sing) servant.

Then they went to meet Ahab. They told him that Ben-Hadad ⌊had sent them⌋ to him
20:32c ‘Please spare my life.’”
‘I beg you (sing) to allow me to live.’”
-or-
He begs you (sing) not to kill him.”

and to plead/beg humbly for his life.
20:32d And the king answered, “Is he still alive? He is my brother.”
Then the king said/replied, “Is he still living? ⌊Good!⌋ He is my brother.”
-or-
Ahab responded/answered, “So Ben-Hadad is still alive!/? He and I are ⌊like⌋ brothers!”
-or-
Ahab was pleased to hear this. He told the men/officials that he ⌊honored/loved⌋ Ben-Hadad like a brother.
