20:12a Ben-hadad received this message while he and the kings were drinking in their tents,
Ben-Hadad and the ⌊minor/lesser⌋ kings were drinking ⌊alcohol⌋ in their tents/quarters. They heard/received the message ⌊from Ahab⌋.

When Ben-Hadad heard this message, he and the ⌊other⌋ chiefs/rulers leaders were drinking ⌊wine⌋ together in their temporary shelters.
-or-
Ben-Hadad and the other kings were ⌊sitting/relaxing⌋ in their rooms and drinking ⌊alcohol/wine⌋. As soon as the messengers gave/told him the message,
20:12b and he said to his servants, “Take your positions.”
Ben-Hadad told/commanded his servants/officers, “Take (plur) your positions.”
-or-
He said to his servants/commanders, “Get yourselves in place for the attack.”
-or-
Ben-Hadad ordered his men/forces to get ready to attack ⌊Samaria⌋.
20:12c So they stationed themselves against the city.
So they took their positions to attack the city ⌊of Samaria⌋.

And they positioned themselves for the attack on ⌊Samaria⌋ city.

So they got ready for the attack.
