19:20a So Elisha left the oxen, ran after Elijah,

Elisha left the oxen and ran after Elijah.
-or-
Leaving his oxen ⌊standing there⌋, Elisha ran after Elijah.

19:20b and said, “Please let me kiss my father and mother goodbye,

He said to Elijah, “Please let me ⌊first⌋ ⌊go⌋ and kiss my father and my mother.

He asked Elijah to allow him to ⌊go and⌋ kiss his father and mother goodbye

9:20c and then I will follow you.”

Then I will follow you.”

before he went/left with Elijah.

19:20b-c (reordered)

Elisha said, “I will come with you. But please allow me to say goodbye to my father and mother.”

19:20d “Go on back,” Elijah replied, “for what have I done to you?”

Elijah answered, “⌊Yes,⌋ you may go back. For what have I done to you?”

Then Elijah told him he could go back, and asked him, “I have not done anything to you, have I?”

Elijah answered, “⌊Of course⌋ you can go/turn back. I have not done anything to you!”
