14:28a And whenever the king entered the house of the LORD,

And when the king went to the house/temple of Yahweh

Every time that the king went to the temple ⌊to worship⌋ Yahweh

14:28b the guards would bear the shields,

the guardsmen went too. They carried the shields ⌊to the temple⌋

the guards accompanied him, holding the shields.

11:28c and later they would return them to the guardroom.

and then brought them back into the storage room.

⌊When the king left the temple,⌋ they took the shields back to the room where they stored them.
