11:6a So Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD;

In this way, Solomon did wrong in the sight of Yahweh.

11:6b unlike his father David, he did not follow the LORD completely.

He did not fully obey/serve Yahweh, as his father David had ⌊obeyed/served Yahweh⌋.

He was not completely faithful to Yahweh, as David his father had been.

⌊King⌋ David had obeyed Yahweh with all his heart, but Solomon his son did not. He acted in a way that Yahweh found/called evil.
