Section 9:1-34 These people of Israel returned to the land of Judah and lived in Jerusalem

9:1a So all Israel was recorded in the genealogies written in the Book of the Kings of Israel.

New International Version (1984): All Israel was listed in the genealogies recorded in the book of the kings of Israel.

The names of all the people of⌋ Israel were listed/written with the names of their clans. ⌊That information was written⌋ in the scroll/book named ‘The Record of the Kings of Israel.’

Everyone in Israel was listed in the official family records that were included in the history of Israel’s kings. (Contemporary English Version)

9:1b But Judah was exiled to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness.

New International Version (1984): The people of Judah were taken captive to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness.

The enemies of⌋ the people of Judah captured them and took them to Babylon ⌊country⌋ . ⌊This was a punishment from God⌋ because they did not obey him.

The people of Judah sinned/rebelled ⌊against God⌋ . ⌊Therefore their enemies⌋ took them by force to Babylon ⌊country⌋ .
