SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Chronicles 6:32

6:32a They ministered with song before the tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting,

They worshipped ⌊Yahweh⌋ with music/songs at the sacred tent, the dwelling place of Yahweh.

They served by making music at the ⌊temporary⌋ house of Yahweh. ⌊They called it⌋ the tent for meeting ⌊with Yahweh⌋ .

6:32b until Solomon built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem.

Then they continued to worship Yahweh with music/songs in the temple of Yahweh which David’s son,⌋ Solomon, built in Jerusalem city.

They did this until King Solomon built a ⌊permanent⌋ house ⌊for people to worship⌋ Yahweh in Jerusalem ⌊city⌋ .

6:32c And they performed their duties according to the regulations given them.

They did all their musical duties according to the instructions ⌊Yahweh had⌋ given them.

The men who served there⌋ performed their daily tasks. They carefully followed the rules ⌊for their jobs as musicians that Yahweh had given them.

6:31-32 (combined)

King⌋ David brought the covenant box ⌊from Gibeon to Jerusalem⌋ to stay in the tent of Yahweh. ⌊Later it was put in⌋ the temple that ⌊King⌋ Solomon built for Yahweh ⌊at the same location⌋ in Jerusalem. ⌊King⌋ David chose some ⌊descendants of Levi⌋ to serve Yahweh there with music and songs. They did their work in a specific/required order/way.

David chose some men ⌊from Levi’s clan⌋ to organize the music at the house of Yahweh’s presence in Jerusalem. They carefully performed their duties according to special rules. ⌊First⌋ they served in the tent of meeting Yahweh. ⌊Later they served⌋ at the temple of Yahweh which King Solomon built. ⌊King⌋ David had brought the covenant box ⌊of Yahweh’s presence to that location⌋ .
