David commanded the leaders of ⌊the descendants⌋ of Levi to appoint their relatives as singers.

15:16b to lift up their voices with joy, accompanied by musical instruments—harps, lyres, and cymbals.

⌊David commanded the leaders⌋ to sing ⌊loudly⌋ with joy. ⌊They were to do this by playing various stringed⌋ musical instruments ⌊known as⌋ the lyre and the harp. ⌊They were to do this⌋ as well as ⌊play the metal plates called⌋ cymbals.
