20:5a And during the night, the men of Gibeah rose up against me

But that night the men of Gibeah came looking for me.

20:5b and surrounded the house. They intended to kill me,

They surrounded the house and tried to kill me.

and wanted to kill me. They stood around the house ⌊where I was staying⌋ .

20:5c but they abused my concubine, and she died.

They forced my slave wife to have sex with them and she died.

⌊Instead of killing me,⌋ they took my wife and ⌊they all⌋ raped her until she was dead.
