19:4a His father-in-law, the girl’s father, persuaded him to stay,

The woman’s father, his father-in-law, insisted that he stay ⌊in their house⌋ .

He convinced the man to stay with them.

19:4b so he remained with him three days, eating, drinking, and lodging there.

So the Levite stayed with his father-in-law for three days. He ate and drank with them and slept in their house.

So he stayed there for three days, eating their food, drinking their drink, and sleeping there.
