19:26a Therefore their inhabitants, devoid of power, are dismayed and ashamed.

Their people have lost their power. They are discouraged and ashamed.

The people who lived in those cities are now powerless and terrified and confused in shame.

19:26b They are like plants in the field,

They are as weak/short-lived as plants in the field,

How brief is their life, like that of wild plants.

19:26c tender green shoots,

as defenseless as young green grass.

19:26d grass on the rooftops,

They are like grass that sprouts on the roof of a house

19:26e scorched before it is grown.

but is scorched ⌊to death⌋ before it grows to maturity.
