17:10a They set up for themselves sacred pillars and Asherah poles

They raised/erected stone pillars ⌊to honor pagan gods⌋ and poles, ⌊images of the goddess⌋ Asherah.

17:10b on every high hill and under every green tree.

They placed them on all the hills and under every shady tree.
