SIL Translator’s Notes on 2 Kings 5:11

5:11a But Naaman went away angry, saying,

But Naaman became angry and left. He said,

-or-

But Naaman was furious. He drove away ⌊from Elisha’s house,⌋ exclaiming,

5:11b “I thought that he would surely come out,

“I thought that for me he would certainly come out ⌊of his house⌋ !

-or-

“I really expected that the prophet would come out ⌊to talk⌋ to me!

5:11c stand and call on the name of the LORD his God,

I thought he would stand ⌊here⌋ and call on the name of Yahweh his God!

-or-

I expected him to⌋ stand ⌊before me⌋ and pray to Yahweh his God!

5:11d and wave his hand over the spot

I thought that⌋ he would wave his hand over the place ⌊of my leprosy

-or-

I hoped that⌋ he would wave his hand over the diseased skin

5:11e to cure my leprosy.

and heal my disease.

-or-

and make me well again!
