SIL Translator’s Notes on 2 Kings 2:24

2:24a Then he turned around, looked at them

Elisha turned around, looked at them,

-or-

Elisha turned back and stared at them.

2:24b and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD.

and called on Yahweh to curse them.

-or-

Then he asked Yahweh to punish them.

2:24c Suddenly two female bears came out of the woods

Then two bears appeared from the woods

-or-

Two ⌊female/mother⌋ bears came running from the scrub/bush/wild land.

2:24d and mauled forty-two of the boys.

and tore/ripped forty-two of the boys.

-or-

They ⌊attacked⌋ the forty-two boys, tearing them into pieces.
