SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Kings 19:21

19:21a So Elisha turned back from him,

So then Elisha turned and went back ⌊home⌋.
-or-
Then/So Elisha did turn around and go back ⌊to say farewell/goodbye⌋.

19:21b took his pair of oxen, and slaughtered them.

He took his pair/team of oxen and slaughtered/butchered them.
-or-
He killed his pair of oxen

19:21c With the oxen’s equipment, he cooked the meat

He used the yoke to cook the meat,
-or-
and used the ⌊wooden⌋ yoke to ⌊make a fire and⌋ cook them.

19:21d and gave it to the people, and they ate.

which he gave to the people, and they ate it.
-or-
Then he gave the meat to the people to eat.

19:21e Then he set out to follow and serve Elijah.

Then he/Elisha left to follow Elijah and to serve him.

Afterwards he/Elisha got ready and followed Elijah and served him.
