Section 17:1-6
God cared/provided for Elijah during a great drought
17:1a Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was among the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab,
Elijah the Tishbite was ⌊a prophet⌋ from Tishbe in Gilead. ⌊One day⌋ he said to ⌊King⌋ Ahab,

⌊The prophet⌋ Elijah, who was from Tishbe in ⌊the region called⌋ Gilead, ⌊went/came to⌋ ⌊King⌋ Ahab. He/Elijah swore this oath to the king:

⌊It happened⌋ ⌊one day⌋ that Elijah the Tishbite, ⌊a prophet⌋ from ⌊the town/village⌋ Tishbe in ⌊the region⌋ Gilead, came to speak to ⌊King⌋ Ahab. He said,
17:1b “As surely as the LORD lives—the God of Israel before whom I stand—
“As certainly/surely as Yahweh, the God of Israel, the God I serve, lives,
-or-
“By the living God of Israel, by Yahweh whom I serve, ⌊I swear/declare⌋ this:
-or-
“May the living Yahweh, the God of Israel whom I serve, ⌊be my witness that this message is true⌋.
17:1c there will be neither dew nor rain in these years except at my word!”
there will be no dew and no rain in the coming years unless I say so.”
-or-
In the years ahead neither dew nor rain ⌊will fall⌋ until I command it.”
-or-
In these next/coming years, until I give the command, no rain ⌊will fall⌋ and no dew ⌊will appear⌋.”
