1:42a As he was speaking, suddenly Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest arrived.

Just as he was asking about this, the priest Abiathar’s son Jonathan arrived.

As he was still making inquiries, ⌊he saw⌋ the son of Abiathar the priest arrive. His name was Jonathan.

1:42b “Come in,” said Adonijah, “for you are a man of valor. You must be bringing good news.”

Adonijah said ⌊to Jonathan⌋, “Enter/Come! An honorable man such as yourself ⌊surely/hopefully⌋ brings ⌊us (excl.) ⌋ good news.”

Adonijah welcomed him. “I expect a good man like you has some good news ⌊for us (excl.) ⌋ !” he said.
