Tobias answered his father Tobit: Both Good News Translation and Contemporary English Version omit one of the occurrences of the word father in this verse as unnecessarily repetitive. However, since this is the first verse of a new section, it will be good to include the name of Tobit as New Revised Standard Version has done (see the following verse where even more information must be supplied to the reader).

The original Greek was not divided into chapters and verses, so it will be helpful to connect this chapter with the previous one as follows: “After listening to his father Tobit’s advice, Tobias answered, ‘I will do everything that you have told me.’ ”
