Translation commentary on Tobit 11:9

Threw her arms around is an idiom meaning “hugged” (Contemporary English Version).

I am ready to die may be rendered “I can die in peace” (Good News Translation). The Greek is literally “from now on I will die.” Translators must find an idiomatic expression saying “I will be content to die now.”

For she wept, see 7.6.
