Good News Translation‘s paragraph break here is appropriate since the discussion moves from Solomon’s accomplishments to his sins.

But you laid your loins beside women, and through your body you were brought into subjection: See 1 Kgs 11.1-8. The first line says that Solomon slept with many women, and the second line says that his lust allowed him to be controlled by women. We could say:

• But you slept with many women, and your desire for them allowed them to control you.
