Rich men furnished with resources, living peaceably in their habitations: Good News Translation is good here, but New Jerusalem Bible may be a bit better with “others were rich and powerful, living peacefully in their homes,” and we recommend this as an alternative model. “Powerful” refers to political power rather than bodily strength.
