Every counselor praises counsel, but some give counsel in their own interest: Every counselor praises counsel means that every adviser praises the advice that he himself gives. Good News Translation shifts the focus of this line slightly (in the direction of the Hebrew actually) but acceptably. Another possible model for the whole verse is:
• Every adviser thinks his advice is good, but some give advice hoping to profit from it.
