Translation commentary on Sirach 33:9

Some of them he exalted and hallowed, and some of them he made ordinary days: Good News Translation is good here. It is helpful to express some of them as “some days.” In Revised Standard Version it sounds at first like the Lord is exalting and hallowing some “seasons and feasts,” rather than days. Hallowed means that God has dedicated or set them aside for people to worship him. So we may translate this verse as follows:

• He set aside some days for people to worship him, but made other days ordinary.
