Translation commentary on Sirach 26:21

So your offspring will survive and, having confidence in their good descent, will grow great: In this verse good descent translates the same Greek word rendered “fine stock” in verse 20. The verse may be rendered:

• Your descendants will then live on and be distinguished. They can be confident of their ancestry [or, that they are descended from a good family].
