I will again make instruction shine forth like the dawn, and I will make it shine afar: Ben Sira is telling us, his readers, in verses 32-33 that he has not finished writing; he has more to say. Again is not quite right; the meaning is that he is going to continue making instruction shine forth—he is going to go on making instruction shine forth. The sea may yet become an ocean. Afar probably refers to Jews living outside Palestine. For this whole verse Good News Translation is wordy, and misses the point. We suggest something like this:
• But now I will continue with my teachings. I will make them shine like the rising sun, so that their light may reach everywhere.
