The two lines of this verse, like verse 15, are closely parallel, and can be easily combined, as Good News Translation has in fact done. Will seek his approval means what Good News Translation says: “will try to please him” (also Contemporary English Version). Will be filled with the law probably means “will have a wide knowledge of the Torah, God’s Law.” The verse as a whole probably means “Those who honor and love the Lord will try to please him by mastering his Law” or “… by learning all his ways.” This, after all, is surely what the author devoted his career to.
