13:20a When the flame went up from the altar to the sky,

The flame went up from the altar toward the heavens,
-or-
The fire rose from the sacrifice platform up into the sky.

13:20b the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame.

and the angel of Yahweh went up in the flames.
-or-
Then the messenger from Yahweh rose up ⌊into the sky⌋ with the flames.

13:20c When Manoah and his wife saw this, they fell facedown to the ground.

When they saw that, Manoah and his wife bowed on the ground face down.
-or-
Manoah and his wife lay down ⌊in worship⌋ with their faces toward the ground when they saw this.
