4:3a But Zerubbabel, Jeshua, and the other heads of the families of Israel replied,

¶ But Zerubbabel, Joshua, and the other heads/chiefs of the extended families of Israel answered,

¶ Zerubbabel, Jeshua ⌊the high/leading priest⌋, and the other leaders of the families/clans ⌊of Judah⌋ replied that

4:3b “You have no part with us in building a house for our God,

“⌊No.⌋ It is not ⌊right⌋ for us (excl.) and you (plur.) to build a temple for our God together.
-or-
they would not allow them to help build a house for the God of Israel.

4:3c since we alone must build it for the LORD, the God of Israel,

We (excl.) will build it for Yahweh, the God of Israel, without your (plur.) help.
-or-
⌊They said that⌋ they, ⌊the people of Israel, worship only⌋ Yahweh, the God of Israel. ⌊He is their God, and⌋ it is their duty/responsibility to build his house.

4:3d as Cyrus king of Persia has commanded us.”

This is what King Cyrus, the ruler of Persia, ordered us (excl.) ⌊to do, and we will do it⌋.”

And they must do it because Cyrus, the chief/ruler of Persia, commanded them ⌊to build it⌋.
