8:11a Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord GOD,

Lord Yahweh says, “Look! The days are coming.
-or-
Yahweh the Lord has declared, “Pay attention! The time is coming ⌊when I will punish my people for their sins⌋ .

8:11b when I will send a famine on the land—

At that time, I will send a famine throughout the country ⌊among the people⌋ .
-or-
Throughout the country I will cause ⌊you⌋ to suffer.

8:11c not a famine of bread or a thirst for water,

You will not hunger for food or thirst for water,
-or-
You will not desire food or water.

8:11d but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD.

but your hunger will be to hear the word of Yahweh.

Rather, you will desire to hear the word of Yahweh.
