1:3a This is what the LORD says:

Yahweh says this,

1:3b “For three transgressions of Damascus, even four, I will not revoke My judgment,

“For the crimes people of Damascus have done again and again, I will not revoke ⌊the punishment⌋ .

“I will certainly punish them, for the three crimes of Damascus, even more ⌊crimes⌋ .

1:3c because they threshed Gilead

They trampled Gilead and its people

⌊The people of Damascus⌋ were very cruel to ⌊my people in⌋ Gilead.

1:3d with sledges of iron.

with ⌊threshing⌋ sledges having iron teeth.
