And concerning these matters and their details, I have ordered these men and my representatives to confer with you: These matters and their details may be translated “the details of these matters” (Good News Bible). These men refer to John and Absalom. Apparently Lysias sends a delegation of his own (my representatives) back to Judas, accompanying John and Absalom. Lysias has given his representatives the authority to work out the practical details of the agreement. It is the same in modern diplomacy, where high-ranking government officials will meet and come to agreement on the general terms of a treaty, but will leave to subordinates the working out of the details. Good News Bible provides a reliable model for this verse.
