As for me, I spoke in the daytime and was not silent at night: Being filled with the inspired words of Scripture, Ezra had no need for food or sleep.

So during the forty days ninety-four books were written: During the forty days the five men wrote ninety-four books dictated by Ezra.

Good News Bible has a helpful model for verses 43-44. Another possible one is:

• 43 I dictated all day and through the night. 44 So the men finished writing ninety-four books during those forty days.
