Translation commentary on 2 Esdras 13:45

Through that region there was a long way to go, a journey of a year and a half; and that country is called Arzareth: The name Arzareth is unknown anywhere else. This name in Latin probably means “Another Land,” as the Revised Standard Version footnote says, but there is no particular need to point this out. Good News Bible provides a helpful model for this verse, connecting it to verse 46. However, the following model of Contemporary English Version is also good:

• They traveled a year and a half through the region known as Arzareth….
