The word behold introduces another surprising thing in the vision (see the comments on the previous verse).

She suddenly uttered a loud and fearful cry, so that the earth shook at the sound: Compare 2 Esd 3.18; 6.13-16. The woman cried out so loud in fear that the ground shook.

Good News Bible provides a helpful model for this verse, and so does Contemporary English Version, which says:

• Just then, she screamed in such a loud and frightening voice that the whole earth shook.
