29:6a For our fathers were unfaithful

Our ancestors were disloyal ⌊to their covenant with Yahweh⌋.

Our grandparents did not keep their promises to God.

29:6b and did evil in the sight of the LORD our God.

They did what displeased Yahweh our God

They did bad things that Yahweh our God disliked

29:6c They abandoned Him,

and they abandoned him.

and deserted him.

29:6d turned their faces away from the dwelling place of the LORD,

They chose to forget Yahweh’s house.
-or-
They turned their backs on the place where Yahweh’s lives,

29:6e and turned their backs on Him.

Then they ignored him altogether.

and afterwards, on Yahweh himself.
