25:16a While he was still speaking, the king asked,
But the king cut him off in the middle of his speech. He said,
-or-
King Amaziah would not let him finish. He interrupted ⌊and threatened⌋ him saying,
25:16b “Have we made you the counselor to the king?
“When did I make you a royal adviser?
-or-
“You are not one of my counselors.
25:16c Stop! Why be struck down?”
Stop talking before I kill you right here and now.”
-or-
Enough talk. Do you wish to die?”
25:16d So the prophet stopped, but he said,
So the prophet stopped ⌊his warning to the king⌋. Instead he said,
-or-
So he stopped speaking but he added these words:
25:16e “I know that God has determined to destroy you,
“Now I know that God has decided to destroy you
-or-
“It is certain that God is planning to kill you
25:16f because you have done this and have not heeded my advice.”
for what you have done and for not taking the advice I am giving you.”
-or-
because you worship idols and because you will not listen to my warning.”
