And Jonathan’s men seized about fifty of the men of the country who were leaders in this treachery, and killed them: Jonathan’s men is literally “they.” This pronoun is better rendered “Jonathan and his men” (Good News Bible). Seized about fifty of the men of the country who were leaders in this treachery may be translated “arrested [or, captured] about fifty of the men who were involved in the plot [or, were planning to capture Jonathan and his men].”
