He also remembered the wickedness of the sons of Baean: Baean is unknown. It may refer to a town or to a tribe, probably the latter. In any case, the location is also unknown. Good News Bible misses the idea of wickedness in this clause. A better model is “He also remembered the terrible things that the wicked people of the tribe called Baean had done to Jewish travelers.”
Who were a trap and a snare to the people and ambushed them on the highways may be rendered “They would lie in ambush beside the roads waiting to attack the Jews.”
