They placed the bread on the table and hung up the curtains: For the bread, see Lev 24.5-9. For the curtains, see 1Macc 1.22, where only one curtain is mentioned, and this would agree with Exo 26.31-33 where one curtain separated the Most Holy Place from the rest of the sanctuary. The use of the plural here is probably no more than an idiomatic variation, and translators may render it in the singular if they wish.
Thus they finished all the work they had undertaken: This is a summary statement covering the activity in verses 42-51. Translators may say “When they had done all these things, the work on the Temple was finished.”
