We recommend that translators begin a new paragraph here since the subject matter changes. Good News Bible combines verses 5-7 in order to bring forward the information in verse 7. This will be a helpful model for some languages.

After this he fell sick and perceived that he was dying may be rendered “After this [or, After he had done all this] he became sick. Knowing [or, When he knew] that he was about to die….”
