The envoys who were sent to our people have told us about your glory and honor, and we rejoiced at their coming: Envoys may be rendered “ambassadors” or “messengers” (Contemporary English Version) in this context. Good News Bible says “delegation,” which is simply a group sent on a particular mission. In languages that do not have the passive voice, The envoys who where sent to our people may be rendered “The messengers [or, ambassadors] that you [plural] sent to us.” The Greek pronoun for your is plural. It may be helpful to rearrange the clauses in this verse by beginning with we rejoiced at their coming since the envoys had to come before they could tell anything. A model that does this is:

• We were delighted to meet the ambassadors that you [plural] sent to us. They told us about the honor and respect your [plural] nation now receives.
