Jerusalem

The name that is transliterated as “Jerusalem” in English is signed in French Sign Language with a sign that depicts worshiping at the Western Wall in Jerusalem:

While a similar sign is also used in British Sign Language, another, more neutral sign that combines the sign “J” and the signs for “place” is used as well. (Source: Anna Smith)

Translation commentary on 1 Maccabees 13:10

So he assembled all the warriors may be rendered “So Simon called together all his soldiers.”

And hastened to complete the walls of Jerusalem, and he fortified it on every side may be expressed as “and they worked quickly to finish the walls and towers that protected Jerusalem on every side” (Contemporary English Version). The soldiers completed the defense measures spoken of in 1Macc 12.35-37.
