SIL Translator’s Notes on 1 Kings 5:6

5:6a Now therefore, order that cedars of Lebanon be cut down for me.

“So then, ⌊please⌋ order ⌊your (sing) workmen⌋ to cut down cedars in ⌊the land of⌋ Lebanon for me.
-or-
The message continued, “So then, ⌊I request that you, Hiram,⌋ direct ⌊your (sing) workers⌋ to chop/fell some of Lebanon’s cedar trees for me.

5:6b My servants will be with your servants, and I will pay your servants whatever wages you set,

My men will work with your (sing) men. I will pay you (sing)for their labor⌋ at whatever rate you choose/decide.
-or-
My men will help them. Then I will give you money so that you can pay your men what they earn/deserve for their work.

5:6c for you know that there are none among us as skilled in logging as the Sidonians.”

As you (sing) know, we (excl.) do not have anyone skilled in cutting down trees. But you (plur) Sidonians have many skilled workers.”
-or-
As you (sing) know, nobody in Israel knows how to cut down trees as well as ⌊you (plur) ⌋ Sidonian people do.”
