2:5a Moreover, you know what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me—
“You (sing) yourself are aware of what ⌊wrong/evil⌋ Zeruiah’s son Joab did to me.

“⌊My son,⌋ you (sing) know/remember very well that Joab son of Zeruiah wronged me
2:5b what he did to Abner son of Ner and Amasa son of Jether, the two commanders of the armies of Israel.
He did ⌊wrong/evil⌋ to both leaders of the armies of Israel, that is, to Ner’s son Abner and to Jether’s son Amasa.
-or-
when he wronged/attacked the two top generals/commanders of Israel’s armed forces. They were Abner, who was the son of Ner, and Amasa, who was the son of Jether.
2:5c He killed them in peacetime to avenge the blood of war.
He killed them ⌊both⌋. He shed/spilled their blood in ⌊a time of⌋ peace as though it were ⌊a time of⌋ war.
-or-
He killed them as though ⌊we (excl.) were⌋ at war, but ⌊we (excl.) were⌋ not at war.
2:5d He stained with the blood of war the belt around his waist and the sandals on his feet.
He marked/discolored the belt on his hips/waist and the sandals on his feet with their blood.
-or-
He caused the blood ⌊of those men⌋ to spill/pour out onto his/the belt and onto his/the sandals/footwear.
